Supplies
- Warm Water: 6 oz (warm or hot, not boiling)
- Liquid Dish Soap: 1 teaspoon (clear type, formulated to break down grease)
- Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol: 1 teaspoon (any concentration works; optional but recommended to supercharge the mix)
- Prep Towel: 1 large beach towel or bath towel
- Cleaning Cloths: 2 small, completely clean hand towels or washcloths (Note: Do not use paper towels, napkins, or tissues, or you will end up with lint everywhere)
Directions
- Mix the Cleaning Solution
- Fill a regular glass with about 6 oz of warm or hot water to help dissolve grease.
- Mix in 1 teaspoon of liquid dishwashing soap.
- Add 1 teaspoon of isopropyl rubbing alcohol to the cleaner, then stir them together.
- Gather Your Towels
- Grab one large beach or bath towel, and two small, completely clean hand towels or washcloths.
- Reminder: Do not use paper towels, napkins, or tissues, as they will leave lint all over your glass.
- Prep Your Workspace
- Place your glass of cleaning solution securely into one of your car’s cup holders so it won’t tip over.
- Spread your large beach or bath towel completely across your dashboard directly under the windshield to catch any accidental drips.
- Scrub the Glass
- Submerge your first small towel into the glass of cleaning solution, then wring out any excess liquid.
- Scrub the towel all over the inside of the windshield, moving back and forth from end to end. The soap acts as a lubricant, making it glide easily across the glass.
- Wipe Off the Soap
- Take the large towel that you laid across your dashboard and use it to wipe down the glass, absorbing all of the soap and loose grime.
- Note: The window will still look a bit sudsy or streaky at this point, which is completely normal.
- The Final Polish
- Grab your second clean, dry small towel (or a clean microfiber cloth) and give the entire windshield a final wipe down.
- It will glide smoothly and instantly remove any remaining haze, leaving you with perfectly clear glass.
